Writing something personal for the first time in a while

It's been a while since I sat down to write something a bit more personal. Not just here, but also in my physical journal. Truthfully speaking, I can't remember the last time I opened either.

It's a cloudy day today. I've been spending most of my day just browsing online stuff, be it chatting and reading or figuring out how different forms of technology work. I should probably have gotten up to tidy up and clean my apartment a bit but haven't really found the kick yet. I spent the entire day yesterday simply just washing clothes. After I was hosting some musician friends of mine visiting this city as a tour stop last week (we were 6 people here in total, usually I live here alone) I ended up with a suspicion of either fleas or bed bugs in my apartment - it currently seems to be the latter. It's sort of a long story, but basically my apartment is provided to me by my exchange hosting organisation and we had to use some rooms and matresses that have so far simply just stayed locked in which there were most likely some sleeping bugs of sorts. It seems this is gonna be resolved now though.

This past week has also been a semi-bomb for my inbox. The last post I wrote, which, truthfully, I just sat down to write quickly so I posted something for the first time in about forever, gathered a lot of attention on especially hacker news but also some different platforms. I'm a little torn on how I feel about this. I ended up with some nice conversations in my email through it, but I'm also very torn on being featured in especially some blogs that have many posts on how 'ai is the future'? I also declined an interview request from android authority both because (1) I don't really care for it, I run this website first and foremost because I want to, and (2) well I have absolutely no intention of ever supporting "reporting" that is, well, um, this:

I haven't really written about my quarrel with the word hacking and the 'journalism' done on it much, but the summary is that careless use of it as synonymous to "cyber crime" drags down all interesting ie. jailbreak-projects down with it, and that it really asks the wrong questions. "AI agent broke free of sandbox and hacked PC system" well why was the sandbox so weak in the first place? "Hackers hacked the hacky hacking hack" is part of how we get incidents like CrowdStrike with absolutely no consequences at all.

Anyways. I've taken a slight break from my weekly log posts from my exchange in Brazil. It's been nice in a sense, especially since I've been travelling a bit and away from my computer, but I also feel like I should start again. It keeps me writing regularly and gives me a nice archive of what I've been doing. I am however kind of torn on what I want the identity of this site to be though - do I want my weekly logs, personal posts etc. to be in the same RSS as my more serious stuff? It's kind of hard to decide. Part of me also wants to be cautious for "professional" reasons (what if future employers find the site) but idk, I feel that I need to resist that part. I don't want to let work 'colonize' my personal projects in a sense. Work is what I do for bread, not what I do for me.

Ever since I got my physical ereader I've also been reading more. Nowadays I've been reading through "The Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World" by David Graeber. Despite the overly self-help-y title, it's a really good collection of essays and not even close to the same bag of books such as "the 'let them'-theory" or (god forbid) Mark Mansons writings. I've also finished the first two books of The Hunger Games and made myself a nice list of things I want to read through some time. I'm not quite sure what to continue with. It'll either be something by Andy Weir (Hail Mary sounds nice), The Dispossesed, Is A River Alive?, or perhaps The Communist Manifesto, simply because I realized I've never read it. Who knows.

I think this is going to conclude my post for now. One thing I want to do though: find more beautiful, cozily, personal-designed websites. That would be fun.

one thing added at the end: gray weather days always make me so weird. i somehow feel like i get more done even when it's just night. oh well.
