Youtube videos without background music
I've watch a lot of videos on youtube in my life, more than I am proud of. Recently I've gotten kind of tired of it and struggled to find videos that I really like. The mrbeast- and tiktokification of the platform has made it less and less appealing to me, leading it to feel more as a sensory overload than a "hey I wonder what this person has to show me".
There are in particular two categories of videos that I miss: the "friends hanging out and playing video games" and the video covering whatever topic clearly being made by someone at home.
YouTube has gotten very "professional" and studio-ified. Going on the home page (that is, my personalized one since youtube has removed the old front page) more and more videos have really high quality thumbnails, a script, a high resolution microphone usually talked one sentence at a time to cut all the silence between, looots of b-roll, greenscreen, zooming in and out of things, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. It's feeling much less indie and much more production company, kind of the thing that I in a sense want to take a step away from whenever I open things on 'the internet' instead of on a to- imean streaming platform.
Finding videos like this feel harder and harder. What happened to the Skeppy-Technoblade videos, the Salty Phish, the Muselk, or even just the video of someone talking about something they did straight to their camera or phone? Recently I've caught myself putting YouTube on 0,95% playback speed just so I can listen to someone talk instead of.... whatever the equivalent to running with your mouth is.
Don't get me wrong. There's a lot of the 'new stuff' that is pretty good - Garrett Buffington, Great Blue, Hazel Thayer, and SeaRavioli being among my favorites.
But wow. Sometimes I wish I could just watch the video without constant cuts, SFX, and animated subtitles.
Sometimes I just wanna watch what you have to say instead
