[brazil, week 6] I can just go find capybaras?
I can just go find capybaras?
So I just realized something.
I live in Brazil now.
Which means...
I can just like, take the bus and like, see capybaras????????
Holy shit.
I can speak now
After a little over a month here, I've gotten somewhat proficient with the language. At least well enough to use it. I've had more conversations here using exclusively Brazilian, including with people who speak absolutely no English so that there's no way of 'cheating' by asking how to say a specific word. This feels good! I still need help with some tasks and often have to look up a word or two before I go ask for or do something, but I'm getting more independent of a translator and that feels very good.
I kind of want an e-reader
Being in lack of the local, super-overpowered libraries that we have in Norway, I've found myself wanting an e-reader. I'm not sure what to get. The Kobo's look really good but are a little expensive here. Kindles are cheaper, but they're amazon - they are jailbreakable, but I don't really want an amazon-product.
I've always been a "I prefer physical books" kind of person, but right now I'm starting to realize the practicality of having access even when you don't have access to the physical book, as well as not having to carry books around everywhere. In a sense I actually think it would be a nice supplement. It would also be really nice for reading academic articles and PDFs on something else than my pc (or god forbid, phone)
I have yet to finish reading a whole book this year. Having access to more stuff would probably help.
I love Chico Buarque
That's it. I love him.
